Mobile Food Service or Food Truck means a readily movable trailer or motorized wheeled vehicle, currently registered with the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles, designed and equipped to serve food.
Food Trucks participating under an approved Special Events Permit issued by the Town of Burgaw are exempt from the Mobile Food Services regulations. All other times, Food Trucks must have an active permit.
Permits issued by the Town of Burgaw are valid for one (1) year from the month it was issued. Permits expire at 11:59 PM on the last day of that month. For example, a permit issued on April 15, 2021 is valid until April 30, 2022.
The permit fee is set by the Town of Burgaw Board of Commissioners with the adoption of the budget each year. Currently the fee is $250 annually.
No. Permits are issued to each individually registered truck and can only be associated to that vehicle. If you sell your food truck and purchase a new one, contact the Burgaw Parks, Recreations & Tourism Department and they can assist in transferring the permit to the new truck.
